Welcome to My Study Spot!
Introducing Artastic Frog Study Spot, an art blog where I share everything I've learned about art and animation.
Hi There :)
Welcome to Artastic Frog Study Spot! Thank you for checking out my very first blog!
My name is Amy, and I’m a frog-loving artist based in Los Angeles. I enjoy drawing plants and animals (especially frogs, duh) and creating whimsical stories with environmental themes. Artastic Frog is my online alias!
I graduated this year with a degree in animation, and my goal is to work in the animation industry as a visual development and 3D artist. You can check out my portfolio HERE.

I started this blogsite to share my art journey, post my art studies and exercises, compile art and animation resources, and yap about anything animation-related! I want to become a better artist, and I believe that writing down my reflections on my art journey and posting my study progress here can help keep myself accountable to my artistic goals. I also hope that the resources and notes I provide here can also help other artists reach their goals.
I’m excited to join Substack, and I hope you can join my study spot and learn with me!
What to Expect

And a lot of frogs!
But Why Blogging?
There are many ways to share my art journey. I can make a YouTube channel and make art videos (which I do, right here). I can also just post my WIPs and studies on social media like Instagram. But I decided to blog instead, and why?
Long story short, it’s because I miss writing.
What? A literal visual artist missing writing?!
That’s right. In fact, before I wanted to become an artist, I thought that I would become a writer! In middle school, I used to love creative writing, and my favorite things to do were writing stories on Wattpad and making comics on Webtoon (they probably still exist somewhere, but I don’t have the courage to look back). And at some point, I was probably like, “Nah, I like drawing more,” so I focused more on drawing and stopped writing unless it’s for school essays.
Fast forward to sophomore year in college. I took a social media course where our homework is actually making our own blogsite, specifically about analyzing social media phenomenon. I started to fall back in love with writing, and since then I’ve always wanted to start a blogsite, but I didn’t know what to write about. But now I do: to talk about animation!
Another reason I started blogging is because of social media burnout.
Look, I love being on social media, but lately I’ve been noticing some negative effects, like how my attention span is getting shorter and how I’m not making things I enjoy and instead trying to please the algorithm. Everything is so overwhelming, and I just need a spot where I can recollect, reflect, and experiment without thinking about engagement numbers.
And that’s why I’m here, writing this! I hope this study spot can be the place where you can find motivation to improve your craft while also resting and contemplating with the little frogs.
Feel free to subscribe, comment, and share my blog. I and the frogs who reside here would appreciate it!
My Art Cover Progress
You’re Still Here!
Woah, thanks for sticking around :) You get to read some fun facts about me!
One of my life goals is to read every book from the mystery writer Agatha Christie (which is soooo many)
I love listening to Vocaloid. I have a growing collection of Hatsune Miku figures (I think I have 20), but my fav is actually Kaito (too bad I can’t find figures anywhere)
I have double-jointed fingers, my fingers are naturally bendy (like this)
My favorite frog is desert rain frog, they’re so cute when they bury themselves into the sand!
Although I use greens and yellows a lot, my favorite color is actually purple.

Oh my gosh I love your lofi frog ! So cute I would put that on to study and/or relax to haha 🐸🖤
Happy to read your Substack ! I started on here for a similar reason, I always thought I’d be a writer before I turned to visual art and have been wanting to get back into it. Looking forward to reading more of your blogs !
